Waitresses Serve Style Along With Bottles, The Latest Way For Emerging Designers To Showcase Their Collections

by BILLY GRAY · November 16, 2009

Christian SirianoBack in the day, people looked to glossy celebrity magazines for tips on what to wear for a night out.  Now, inspiration is coming from the night out itself, as bartenders and waitresses become the new style templates for young designers to show case their latest collections...

This is no big surprise. People have always looked to bar staff for something: drinks, sage advice, shoulders to drunkenly cry on. It makes sense that sartorial wisdom would also come from those holding the keys to our drunken salvation. For evidence, check out the below pics of Matt Levine's champagne wenches at the Eldridge rocking some Pencey frocks, and the pretty young things that followed suit:

Of course, it helps if designers like Christian Siriano are among the crowd these women are serving. But even the lay people can get in on this one.

More on Pencey: The dress used at LEVANTeast at The Hotel on Rivington, has most recently been seen on the likes of Amanda Bynes, Cassie and Leighton Meister.

Pencey fuses hipster-chic, Lower East Side style with a refined, yet sophisticated Upper West Side look. It is a favorite with fashion icons Katy Perry, Lindsay Lohan, Rihanna and Molly Sims, and matches simplicity and style. Pencey is sold in high-end boutiques across the globe in such stores as Beckley, Bloomingdales, Intermix, Lane Crawford, Planet Blue, Saks Fifth Avenue, Shopbop.com, Singer 22, and Vionnet.
