P.F.1 (Public Farm One) will be unveiled today in entrance courtyard of P.S. 1. Okay, so if none of that makes sense to you, let’s put it in a way you understand so you can sound knowledgeable around your artistic friends:
P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center (an affiliate of The Modern Museum of Art) had its ninth annual MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program. Back in February, WORK Architecture Company was announced as the winner. P.F.1 was their concept, which basically looks like a flying carpet landing in the P.S.1. courtyard.
Basically, on top it’s a farm, veggies and all, but it includes zones with different activities--including swings. I’m sure my description pales in comparison to how innovative the structure will be. The space will also serve for their 2008 Warm Up summer music series kicking off July 2nd and continuing every Saturday from 3pm-9pm until September 6th.
