Montauk Club
Founded by Gilded Age gentlemen in 1891, Park Slope's historic Montauk Club had fallen on hard times in recent years, hosting Gymboree and Weight Watchers meetings just to keep afloat.
All that changed when the dandy-minded Corduroy Club took the helm, transforming the forgotten Venetian palazzo into a mecca for New York's culturally-inclined youth, with events ranging from supper clubs to poetry readings to Super Bowl parties.
HBO's Boardwalk Empire has even shot a few scenes here, attracted by Montauk's impressive marriage of Old and New World grandeur. (The Titanic's sister chandelier dangles near the main entrance.)
The Montauk Club, 25 Eighth Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn. $350 for Under 35 Membership. For more information, go HERE.
