Your address doesn't matter.

If you're spending a lot of time in your apartment, you're doing NYC wrong. Besides sleeping, Monday through Friday I'm only in my apartment for an hour a day tops. I'm way more downtown than uptown but I live uptown! I'm on the UWS and almost all of my friends are in the West Village or Brooklyn, and none of them judge me for living Uptown. None of them judged me for living in the Bronx, either. In fact, my entire life is either Midtown (ugh) or below 14th street. Just be sure to live on a side of the city that you frequent a lot because getting across town is a bitch. Living in an apartment with an enviable address is great if you can afford it, but it shouldn't be your number one priority.
