It will feel less cold and more like home eventually!

New York can be really, really lonely. You will miss little things about being back with your parents, like people noticing if you're sick or if you got a new haircut. Seriously! So while you should explore all that the city has to offer, make a point to build a niche for yourself with places you frequent almost every day where people are friendly, like a yoga studio and a coffee place. This is the only thing about New York that Seinfeld and Friends portrayed accurately - that you need a regular spot. That way, you start to feel more at home and it's nice in a big city to have places where you're welcomed.
