What: Scuba Diving
What’s Cool About it: Though a resounding “ew” might come to mind at the thought of diving the depths of NYC’s water bodies, companies like Village Divers promise that it’s a not to be missed summer attraction. Though you won’t find the pirate ships you may picture in warmer waters, the area south of Long Island and east of New Jersey is actually known as Wreck Valley and features around 1,000 shipwrecks of every size and kind. To check them out for yourself, some class and pool instruction is required before any actual diving at costs around $250.
