Validate Your Fears

Lists are great, but they’re not just for pro/cons. While you’re gearing up to move have a running list of your fears and worries. List the small things (how do I keep the salt they put on the streets in the winter from staining my rug?) and the big ones (what if my Craigslist roommate is actually a psychopath??), the reasonable confusions (wait, so I don’t throw my empty metro card away? Or I do?), and irrational conspiracies (what about the mole people that live in the abandoned subway lines??). Write them down. It’s okay to be anxious about your move, but explicitly stating what’s waking you up at night in a cold sweat will definitely calm some nerves.
