Autumn in New York actually gives me a kind of melancholia, so I usually try to get out of the city on weekends. My dream weekend would be finding some place where you can really feel the season - I love staying at The Mayflower in Washington, Connecticut, and exploring Litchfield County. The drive to Montreal is long but in the fall it's beautiful - I like to rent a car and stop in Saratoga, The Point at Saranac Lake, or Lake Placid Lodge along the way. Then I drop the car off in Montreal, spend a few days exploring, and fly home.
