Identita Eataly All-Star Chefs' Dinner Hosted By Mario Batali

Birreria at EatalyWhere: Eataly Other details: On Saturday Mario Batali hosted a special dinner witha team of all-star chefs in celebration of the fifth edition of the Identita Eataly event. Identita brought a handful of the worlds best chefs to teach seminars on cooking unique dishes over the weekend, with chefs including Daniel Humm, Massimo Bottura, and April Bloomfield participating. The dinner on Saturday night brought together some of these chefs to create a 5 course menu of decadent, sometimes experimental dishes centered on Italian cuisine. The night began with a tasting of Grana Padano 18 Month aged cheese, a firm, crumbly cheese that paired perfectly with the Berlucchi Franciacorta wine, fresh figs and grapes, and the Olio Toscano olive oil sourced from Italy. This was followed up by Massimo Bottura's salmon dish. The chef of Osteria Francescana, a 3 Michelin star awarded restaurant considered one of the best in the world, added various sauces and caviar to the lightly cooked fish for a strong start to the dinner. Chef Lorenzo Corgo created a savory Kren Julep cocktail to accompany the dish, featuring a spoon of salmon roe to be tasted with it. A pillowy potato & ricotta agnolotti served with a rabbit ragu with chicken stock was created by chef Ugo Alciati and Eataly Executive Chef Alex Pilas, which became a favorite among the guests. Finally the main course came out courtesy of Del Posto's Mark Lander and Luciano Monosilio: a perfectly cooked steak with tangy tomato sauce and a little cheese served with Moretti beer. Of course the meal wasn't over yet, with the chefs offering two desserts for the guests to indulge in. Katia Delogu created a piccola pasticceria dish with what appeared to be little dollops of marshmallow, before Denny Imbroisi brought out an ambitious and elegantly pieced together Grana Padano gelato with black truffle shavings, olive oil crumble, balsamic vinegar, apple shavings, and a handful of other ingredients we couldn't even identify. It capped off a phenomenal dinner, with the chefs overflowing with pride as they got together for a final photo opp at the end of the night.
