Lo BosworthNicky Hilton [Lo Bosworth] [Nicky Hilton] Other details: Last night fashion app Trendabl held a launch party for their new pop-up at the Paramount Hotel. The event celebrated their new commerce function, with which users can not only browse photos but also purchase items within the app. At the pop-up, which is open until Sunday, visitors can hover the app over scan codes to physical items in the store and purchase them in the app, highlighting the all-in-one features which combine the best of Pintrest, Instagram, and e-commerce. At the event guests were also treated to sliders, mac n' cheese bites, champagne, and cocktails, making it a fun way to shop and experience the app. Trendabl founder Jon Alagem said;
"Our goals are really to change the way people discover and ultimately shop for fashion. So everyone is so engulfed in social media but there isn't really option to purchase what yous see, aside from affiliate models where you're sent out to another website to purchase it and sometimes it's not there anymore. So we wanted to give our users the easiest and most seamless approach to discovering fashion and buying it, and we created Trendabl as a marketplace for merchants to sell through, and social media for users to shop on."
As far as social media's influence on fashion, Alagem says;
"I think social media influences fashion a lot. I think it started with magazines, right? Girls were very influenced with what they saw in magazines, and then it moved to blogs, they're influenced by that, and now with social media you can see things in real time. Whether you're following people who are at fashion shows, or in the streets, or whatever. So I think it's very influential, and we wanted to give users the place to buy that, what they see. Most of our users write to us telling us, before we launched commerce, that they use Trendabl as a tool to be influenced. So they'll wake up in the morning, go on Trendabl, see what they can wear that day, or if they're going to an event they're going to look up the best dresses that are trending. So its been pretty cool."
