The event drew a massive crowd around the building, including Michael Bloomberg, Al Sharpton, and LaLa Anthony. The event featured a handful of performers that the crowd got to see before the tree was lit. Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Jewel, the Goo Goo Dolls, and Leona Lewis all sang songs, and the Rockettes performed their routine before the 45,000 LED displays with a Swarovski star on top were turned on.
