"Acting Is One Of The Many Things I'm Interested In, But I Completely Respect It As An Art Form That Requires Lots Of Talent, Dedication And Hard Work."

Which NYC Socialite said the following on how spending time in front of the cameras has made her more comfortable with the idea? Find out after the jump...

It was none other than Olivia Palermo in an email to NY Magazine where she also insists that her job at The City is NOT acting.

Olivia says she hopes that over the rest of the season you see more of the real her. Unfortunately for the young glamazon, even she's not sure what that might look like. "I never know ahead of time what's going to end up on the show," she said. "So watching all of our stories unfold has been really exciting for me." That does sound exciting — watching your own life as told and interpreted by somebody else. No, wait. Terrifying. That was the word we meant to use, not exciting. This girl is braver than we thought.

She could have used other resources to get exposure. She is so beautiful on camera, but MTV and 'The City' are, um, lame. Olivia could've booked other things... on looks alone.

Aw, how brave. Pointy Palermo hopes we get to see the "real her". Does that mean we will have to listen to her say 'um' fifteen times an hour before staring stupidly off into the distance?

hmmm. ive been pondering this one for awhile. If olivia wants to be a serious actress, she never should have joined "the City" in the first place. Bigger names like Lauren Condrad, Heidi, Audrina and Whitney- a la "the Hills"- will NEVER venture into more serious roles in legitimate film or television. Real power players and producers in the entertainment industry wont touch them. These "MTV kids" (Miss Olivia included) are tarnished. Their celebrity has been cheaply acquired on a quasi-reality show that is insipid, fake, poorly "acted", ridiculed and uninspiring. Whoever told Olivia joining the city would be a good platform to move into more serious acting roles really had it out for her. Im sure, as narcassistic as Olivia is, she probably thought it was a good idea from the start. Socialites like Olivia and movie stars are two very different types of celebrity; one is based on good looks, social connections, and free time and money to socialize and self-promote shamelessly. The latter is based on hard work and talent. Olivias desires to be a serious actress were underminded the day she signed the contract and started filming the show. And her attempts at being a "serious acting" -ie hazy eyes, mean glares, and snippy, self-important comments-sure aren't helping
