The REAL Reason Jay-Z Turned Down A Super Bowl Performance

by Raya O'Neal · September 21, 2017

It looks like Jay-Z is standing up for NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, as he has reportedly turned down a spot at the 2018 Super Bowl Halftime Show. If you don't know about the social injustices happening in America, and more specifically the NFL, that is sad, but here's a quick recap for you. Back in August 2016, Colin decided to kneel during the National Anthem before games in an act of protest and solidarity. Well, it caused an uproar in a crowd not known for their eloquence when it comes to civil rights.

Fast forward to present day 2017 and the currently unsigned Kaepernick still has a copious amount of followers and supporters - and apparently HOV is one of them.

At Jay-Z's performance at The Meadows festival in NYC, he dedicated his song "Story of O.J." to Kaepernick and said "I want to dedicate this song to Colin Kaepernick tonight. I want to dedicate this to Dick Gregory. I want to dedicate this song to anyone that was held back and you overcame." It's okay Jay, nobody wants to go to Minnesota anyway. Thanks for taking a stand for the guy who kneeled.
