Superstitions Spur Yankee Pride

Jason Giambi Baseball may be one of, if not the, most superstitious of sports in America. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, when you take a look at Yankees' first baseman Jason Giambi and his killer 'stache. Looking exceedingly more ridiculous with each passing day, Giambi will not shave so long as the mustache brings him good luck. At least he keeps it groomed and isn't as silly as the one previously sported by Johnny Damon--who eventually gave in and shaved.

Regardless of what power the mustache actually brings to Giambi, the fact of the matter is that the Yankees possess an incredibly remarkable sense of team pride and spirit. So while Giambi is on fire, driven by the "power of "stache" (yes, even the electronic boards in Yankee Stadium lay claim to the power and publicize it), a Yankee fan may only hope that the Yankees continue to succeed and maintain their record of over .500.
