by Roxana Hernandez · May 3, 2011

John Galliano fires his Jewish lawyer; the best dressed at the MET Gala; the Royal Wedding dress on display; Zara gets the royal treatment; J.Crew's Gay and Happy Together; set sail with Barkley; Tommy Hilfiger gets a house and so much more on today's Fashion File!

    1. John Galliano fired his Jewish lawyer Stephane Zerbib...

"Mr Zerbib was dismissed as Galliano's lawyer some weeks ago following the discovery of apparent irregularities in respect of his firms administration of Galliano's financial affairs over a number of years,"

...Even after he previously defended Galliano saying,

"Anyone can go to a bar, drink a little and get into a fight with someone ... It’s alcohol mixed with medications. You're very vulnerable when you're in this state."

    2. Would you want to see the Royal Wedding dress made by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen upclose? Well you just might be able to.

"The Dutchess of Cambridge is considering a number of options to give members of the public the opportunity to see, up close, the skilled British craftsmanship that went into making her wedding dress"

While the venue is still unsure, some of the rumored venues are The Hamptons Court Palace, the State Room at Buckingham Palace and Victoria and Albert Museum. [cbsnews]

    3. Last night’s Fashion Oscars, aka the Met Ball is a red carpet where people who really know and care about fashion take risks. Here are my top three Best Dressed at the Met Costume Institute Gala.

    4. Bye-Bye Alessandro! After 8 years, Alessandro Sartori is leaving his position as creative director at Zegna and will be succeeded by Paul Surridge, currently the head of the menswear design team at Jil Sander. [nypost]

6.They have multi-millionare parents and royal relations yet, Catherine, the Dutchess of Cambridge and her younger sister Pippa keep showing us how down-to-earth they are. The whole world watched as they wore McQueen at the royal wedding but the important question is who did they choose to wear for their first appearance AFTER the royal wedding...ZARA. [dailyuk]

    8.  Set sail with you Barkley Sail Tote. While the bag's overall look screams Cape Cod, its recycled fabric from the sails on sailboats is what sets the bag apart from the, um, sea of totes out there! [thecut]

    9. It's not a surprise that Tommy Hilfiger is doing a limited-edition collection called "Prep World," or that the author of The Official Preppy Handbook, Lisa Birnbach, will join Hilfiger at the launch. What the real surprise is, Tommy Hilfiger's pop-up shop is actually a house at Gansevoort Plaza in the Meatpacking District. [Racked]

    10. Gilt City's Unlisted local blog. After being let go from AOL’s Stylist blog, Nathan Richardson is now blogging locally for Gilt City with a team of six, including two photo editors and a copy editor, and a network of freelancers. The site officially launches tomorrow. [WWD]

    11. Leggings can ALMOST, PROBABLY DEFINITELY KIND OF WILL make you fat. Physiotherapist Sammy Margo  explains why everyone prefers stretchy pants.[HuffPost]

"Leggings hide the bits of our bodies we don't like, such as the cellulite on our legs or our 'muffin top,' so we are able to ignore the problem and we are less motivated to exercise these parts."

    12.  A new breed of sites do the shopping for you. New e-commerce sites, like send the trend, shoedazzle, justfabulous, sole society, and jewelmint are some of the site that are using software algorithms that determine personal style and send their users with a limited selection of jewelry, shoes and accessories according to their own style.
