The Wedding Party

    Marianne Van Pelt and Jonathan Self (pictured above). They met three years ago in Grand Central Terminal after numerous attempts via email and long distance phone calls.  Marianne became intersted in Jonathan, a writer, after reading his book "Self Abuse" and being urged on by a mutual friend.  Jonathan, who does NOT believe in love at first site, but he described their first encounter at Grand Central as “an every-fiber-of-my-being kind of moment.”  They tried to exchange vows at the exact same spot they first met, at exactly the same hour as quickly as possible before police moved in.

    Alice Ko and Gregory Tsai: Married Friday at the New Song Community Church in NY.  Alice is a gynecologist with the Premier HealthCare in NY, a nonprofit group practice for disabled patients.  She received her undergraduate and her medical degree at Nortwestern.  Gregory is an otolaryngologist with the Head and Neck surgical group in NYC.  He graduated from Princeton and received his medical degree from Baylor.

    Bunny Podell and Jay Weinrib: Married Thursday evening in the Manhattan home of Ellen and Daniel Crown, the brides daughter and son-in-law.  Bunny graduated from NYU.  Her first husband, Bertram L. Podell, represented the 13th Congressional District in Brooklyn and died in 2005.  Jay is the chariman of ABC Carpet & Home.  He recieved his law degree from Brooklyn Law School.  His first wife, Norman, died in 2002.

    Fun Fact: The couple first met in the late 1940s while attending Samuel J. Tilden High School in Brooklyn. “It’s never too late for people to find love,” she said. “I see him now not as an older guy, but that handsome young guy standing in the doorway of the classroom when I was 15.”

    Arlene Hong and Darren Duffy: Married Saturday in Tarrytown, NY.  Arlene is the senior vice president and general counsel at J.Crew.  She graduated from Columbia and received her law degree from Cornell.  Darren is the chief content officer at Lipper, the mutual funds research unit of Thomson Reuters.  He graduated from St. Joseph's University with an M.B.A. from NYU.

    Brandi Braud and Peter Scully: Married on Saturday in Houston.  Brandi and Peter, both 23, are second-year medical students at Baylor College of Medicine.  They met at Rice University which they graduated from, she summa cum laude and he cum laude.
