Norman Jean Roy Brings TRAFFIK To Milk Gallery

[Photos by MARC DIMOV for PMc]
Every New Yorker knows that Thursdays bring about a slew of gallery openings. Last night, Milk Gallery held the opening of an art show that brought to light the sour truth behind Cambodia's sex trade and human trafficking. Norman Jean Roy's TRAFFIK exhibition is also made into a book. The whole project started when Roy met a former sex slave, Somaly Mam, while he was on assignment. Some more about their collaboration on the project here. The opening brought out many people, and most of the guests had a laid-back style with an artistic flair whether it be with their flannel, hairdos, or hats.

I attend the opening reception of "Traffik" at Milk Studios last night, Nov. 20, I saw all those pictures and I read its titles. When I asked to Mr. Norman Jean, why he is showing only one side of the story? rather to answer he got angry and he asked to the Security Guard to kick me out of the gallery! Just because I excersice my right to express my opinion about his work! This is America and we have Freedom of Speech is one of our Constitutional Rights. Certanly we do not expect everybody to be agree with us. Mr Norman Jean react in a very non-professional manner.

To N. Schwartzberg:
It's Mr. Norman Jean Roy you idiot. You want to see the other side of the story...police men, government officials, pedophiles and young boys that rape these girls? Have you been to Cambodia? Have you visited the brothels? I suggest you do your homework, do your research and get the facts. I assure you that Norman Jean Roy had every right to have you kicked out of the event, because ignorant people like you are what brings the world down. And ignorant people like you don't bring anything to the table. Get an education.

I was a witness to what happened and Mr Roy had you kicked out because you had the audacity to say that the victims portrayed on the walls actually wanted to be prostitutes! When Mr Roy challenged you by asking if you meant "the young girls who were sold by their parents, kidnapped and repeatedly raped, kept in cages and left for dead", you couldn't even listen and continued to speak over him. You are clearly uninformed and ignorant on any facts pertaining to human trafficking. I assure you that NONE of these poor women want to be prostitutes - they ARE victims. People like you further promote the agendas of pimps and corrupted officials by inferring such claims and spreading lies. The exhibit is informational and factually accurate. If you want an education on this subject, I suggest YOU go to Cambodia or Brazil or Vietnam or Laos or Thailand. As a matter of fact, this is EVERYWHERE! Open your eyes and pay attention. Don't be so stupid because people like you make the world a much worst place...

I met Norman and his wife briefly about a year ago, what wonderful people, you could tell how genuine they truly aree. They opened the eyes of two young men, myself and a friend of mine who had no knowledge of the subject. Thank you for shearing your knowledge with us in a truly passionate way.
