8.8.08 is the start of the Summer Olympics and the luckiest day of the century (according to the Chinese….) and Shanghai Tang is bringing the excitement to New York City! In celebration of China, the Olympic Games and their new Manhattan store, the Chinese luxury brand is hitting the streets to bring luck and a little piece of China to New Yorkers.
Tomorrow morning, at 8:08 am, 8 ladies in Shanghai Tang’s signature scarlet silk Qi Pao dresses will pass out 888 red envelopes containing a lucky Chinese dollar on the corner of 57th and Madison Avenue. Those fortunate enough to snatch one up can keep the lucky buck, or bring it in to the Shanghai Tang boutique at 600 Madison Avenue to see if they’ve won an $888 shopping spree!

Um, yes please! Shanghai Tang just opened its new flagship boutique this Spring and the opening bash was full of fashionistas and men-about-town decked out and looking fab in the designer duds (see our party photos in this post). For a splash of color, whimsy and Asia-cool in your wardrobe, the Tang is the destination shopping spot on the uptown circuit. Then you can look appropriately China-chic when you head over to Brooklyn Friday night for the 88BoaDrum concert on the Williamsburg Waterfront to hear 88 drummers in Los Angeles and NY play a special 88 minute set. That’s starts at 8:08 too. Time to sync your watches people. The good luck is about to begin!
