Last night, New York City’s best doormen (including GofG favorite, Matt Oliver) challenged guests at Greenhouse to use their most convincing lines to jump the velvet rope. The most impressive pleas, lies and name drops won an Alpina watch for their efforts, no doubt the best reward desperation draws besides entry into the club.

Come on. MAtt Oliver the best doorman in the city? PLEASE, Rachelle. This is embarassing. He worked at M2 and Guesthouse.
He is not the best doorman. Hes a Good doorman….
And greenhouse is the one of the worst clubs in the city. Why on EARTH Would he work there??? I head he was taking over the door at Pink Elephant. Youll see, Jon and Co. will not pay him or give him some pay cut( see Karim, etc.) and he will be out of there faster than he got there. Lets HOPE that the watch company hired him and he was smart enough NOT to be working for greenhouse! Otherwise, his reputation just went down from a 7 to a 4

Well, I don’t know what happened, but speaking of last nights at Greenhouse, my last night at Greenhouse, which was last night, i.e. Sunday Oct 11, sucked totally! Is that great Sunday night party over, i.e. was last week the Last Night? or was it just because of the Columbus Day holiday? There was increased (and unnecessary in the past anyway) security at the door, barring entry to the teenyboppers who used to enliven the place, creating plenty of room for straight women thinking they were being trendy by being at a “gay” party night, and for people apparently from New Jersey (with the same descriptive note). Top that off with a completely undisciplined and uncreative DJ (not the usual and stellar Johnny Dynell) who believes that if you can’t get ‘em dancing with good tunes, then just turn up the volume! Oh, and they removed some of the banquettes and tables to make room for the capacity crowd, making it that much less comfortable to just hang out.
If this is the “new” Sunday night scene, it’s finished. On the other hand, if it’s just an aberration because nobody was gonna be going to work today, then I’ll just say “never mind,” and be back there partying next week. I’ll let you know, either way!
