Come to the gallery THIS SATURDAY, March 13, beginning at 7p.m., for our special exhibition party to launch STUDIES FROM NATURE, inspired by the daily tensions between people and the environment. West coast artists Mr. Gray and Tristan joined forces to produce this collaborative interpretation in the form of conceptual, functional glass sculptures. �Mr. Gray�s urban botanical series breaks the traditional mold of interpretation for plant life and pipe-making combined. Tristan�s inspired focus on insects and natural life is the ultimate compliment to this collaborative show. Together, these artists are shedding light on something we sometimes miss here in New York, but is such a strong influence on the West Coast: the natural world,� comments Curator Nate Purcell. Both Mr. Gray and Tristan are East Coast transplants leading one of California�s premier glass blowing workshops, Humboldt Glass Collective, in Arcata, CA. The original concept for STUDIES FROM NATURE began with insects conceived by close friend, Abel Vicente, who passed away a few months ago. These artists expanded Vicente�s interpretation to include reflections of the nature thriving around them; then, took it one step further to lend an alternative view of otherworldly organic growing life. Patrons to this exhibit will be introduced to a depiction that concentrates on the use of vibrant color, repeated shape, form and clustered groupings. Yes; the party is FREE.
