The much awaited 9 to 5: The Musical premiered last night here at New York’s Marriott Marquis Theater. Dolly Parton, who starred as Doralee Rhodes in the 1980s obsession, was out in full force and wowing the crowd in a full white get-up. The country legend wrote over 20 new songs for the show that weren’t in the original movie which made the musical even more anticipated by audiences. Some of the cast of the original movie were there to cheer on the new stars as well including Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. Thanks to a little help from Dolly, the play has retained all the things that made it such a big hit: big laughs, big egos, and big, eh… musical scores.
