You'd be hard pressed to find a more elegant setting for a party than the Frick Collection on 5th Avenue and 70th street. The collection, famed for its Renaissance paintings, is housed in what was once the home of Henry Clay Frick, and covers an entire block. The furnishings haven't changed much over the last century, so when tuxedo-clad men and women in long evening gowns filled the rooms for last night's Autumn Dinner, it was easy to imagine how the mansion might have looked during the elegant soirees of its past.
The black tie event honored Phillipe de Montebello, the former director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Guests were able to freely roam the spectacular rooms, and take in the equally spectacular art work, including Bellini's masterpiece St. Francis In Ecstasy.
