John Varvatos celebrated his Spring/Summer “09 collection for Converse on Tuesday night at R & L Restaurant. His choice of location is not surprising since Varvatos” first Converse ad campaign included a tribute to what R&L used to be, meat-packing staple, Florent. JV and friends kicked off his second street-chic line for Chuck Taylor with a performance from the Young Lords, while partiers “Chucked” the night away with mini shakes and sundaes. Guests included Kristian Laliberte, Peter Davis, Dani Stahl, Kate Lamphear, Keegan Singh, Joyce Varvatos, Kristin Rawson, David Lipke, and Barnaby Roper, and fellow designer Camilla Staerk.

Sad. Varvatos should boycott that shit. R&L’s owner booted out Florian. An end to an institution.
