Carole Davenport of New York, BachmannEckenstein of Basel and BC Dentan of San Francisco are holding a group show of Japanese art, 'The Arts of Japan | Three Perspectives'. Davenport will show Negoro lacquer, wood sculpture, No masks and tea wares, ranging from the Kamakura to Edo periods. Representative of Negoro lacquer is a 16th century fusatsu-e ritual basin (diameter 34.3 cm). BachmannEckenstein will offer ink paintings and ceramics, with a focus on tea wares, kogo (incense holders) and mended ceramics that illustrate the Japanese preference for lacquer repair on pottery. One of the high lights is a kogo by Raku Ryonyu, from the renowned Kyoto family of potters (height 4.6 cm). BC Dentan will have a selection of pottery from the six ancient kilns of Japan, Muromachi period sculpture and No masks. Dates: 20 March - 4 April, 2010 - Daily 10am - 6 pm
