Last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom, stars took to the red carpet to support Keep A Child Alive at their annual Black Ball fundraiser. The Keep A Child Alive foundation provides medical care and support to children and their families affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and the organization’s staff members include co-founder Alicia Keys, Padma Lakshmi, and Iman. This year the glamorous event specially honored activists Simon Fuller, Jackie Branfield, and Queen Latifah for their pioneering work in AIDS research and advocacy.

More story and photos below:

Alicia Keys not only hosted the event but also delivered a live performance, along with fellow musicians Justin Timberlake, Chris Daughtry, Adele, and Emmanuel Jalq. Other celebrity guests included Elijah Wood, Dasha Usmanova, Tyra Banks, Stacey London, Zoe Kravitz, Timbaland, and the ever-wonderful David Bowie.

I would have liked to have seen a picture of Jackie Branfield, one of the grass roots activists who was honoured at the event.
It seems that the on the ground activists were forgotten
