Warm Night, Cold Reception For Broderick’s The Philanthropist

Photos by JP PULLOS for PMc] Stars braved the heat on Sunday night to attend the Broadway Opening of Roundabout Theater Company’s production of The Philanthropist, starring Matthew Broderick. There to support Broderick in his first Broadway role since 2005 was wife Sarah Jessica Parker (sporting a Carrie Bradshaw trademark flower–a nod to the upcoming sequel, perhaps?), and frequent costar Nathan Lane.

The Philanthropist, written by Christopher Hampton, is a comedy of manners set in the world of Academia and based on Moliere’s La Misanthrope. The performance was followed by an after party at the American Airlines Theater, where the stars of the show happily posed for pictures (clearly they had not yet read the harsh Times Review…)
