Why Sunday night is the hottest night of the week:
- You can carry your buzz from brunch (from the Bloody Mary you downed to try and get rid of your Saturday night hangover) into the early evening and switch over to wine/cocktails around 8pm with a solid level of non sobriety.
- Calories? What calories? No one counts on Sunday. Pass the steak and pomme frites.
- Zero B&T. Guido watching paired with Euro watching is always fun, but, you will get your fill during your brunch hours…when Sunday NIGHT sneaks her way in, they scatter to the calls of Monday morning train rides and lattes.
- The doormen are much more pleasant. Sunday night allows the doormen and staff to let their guards down. The customers coming are regulars or at the very least, locals and this is a chance for them to get to know their patrons. Most every relationship I have with a waiter/bartender/doorman has happened on a Sunday night. It’s nice to actually feel (*gasp!) wanted at a night spot.
- The parties are more fun. H-E-L-L-O does anyone out there have one criticism in hosting a “Spandex Sunday” Party? I didn’t think so. And don’t even get me started on the Sundays wasted away at Cipriani’s upstairs (like as in literally “wasted”). This Sunday, the hottest party of the weekend was at Southside on Sunday night.
- Everyone is collectively working extra hard to hold onto the weekend. It takes a certain type of person to be a “Sunday Nighter”. And, I can tell a lot about you if you’re in for the long hall. Dedicated, Determined, Hardworking, and, most importantly, fun. You are the kind of person that would dress up if I hosted a theme party. You would not only wear spandex to the kingswood party, but spend hours at American Apparel hungover to get the most perfect violet tights. You are the kind of person I want to be friends with and you don’t ONCE mention Monday Morning.
