The Keith Lissner event below was originally planned to happen at “The Country Club” a new cocktail lounge located at 248 W. 14th street (right next to Plumm). We were going to have “Brunch at the Country Club” and serve up some french toast stick appetizers with a long detailed menu of Bellinis. When, last minute we found that the space would not be ready, we relocated to the Royalton which was, thankfully a spectacular venue. However, Country Club now really is ready to open next Wednesday and we have all the details:
Country Club is a sophisticated, high-energy cocktail lounge that combines elements of a modern social club with a live entertainment venue, for a unique nightlife experience. Located just off Manhattan”s Meatpacking District, Country Club represents a contemporary interpretation of classic clubhouse lounges found in early 20th century country clubs throughout the United States and Great Britain.
The energy and feel of Country Club is driven by its design and exceptional musical entertainment. The venue’s design concept creates the feeling of being in the great room of an elegant private estate. Décor development was assigned to Jeani Ziering, the renowned interior designer known for her work on private residences in Palm Beach, Southampton, and Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Her inspiration for the club’s design was a vision of “The Rolling Stones recording an album at a traditional English Manor and the environment that would be left upon the album’s completion.” The feeling of warmth and affluence commonly found in classic homes and estates has been reproduced and updated, with an edge. The designer has utilized luxurious fabrics and timeless patterns (including alligator skin and houndstooth prints), and a color palette that will juxtapose the classic clubhouse furnishings.
The venue has a centralized stage for showcasing a rotating lineup of live entertainment. The club will feature performances by premier rock/pop artists, as well as independent café-style performers who will take the stage in the early evening, during cocktail hours. Later in the evening, the venue will transform into a more traditional nightspot, with sets by an ongoing rotation of top-tier local and international DJ talent. Country Club’s clientele will experience the energy, excitement, and environment of Manhattan’s most exclusive nightclubs and lounges. Focused on a commitment to servicing our customers every whim, revelers will be treated like members of a posh British country club. By marrying the sophistication of an upscale cocktail lounge with late night energy of a nightclub, Country Club will be a must for refined New York socializing.
The menu at Country Club is focused on fresh interpretations of classic cocktails and bar snacks. The cocktail list is centered on an extensive list of Bellini”s, featuring 15 variations on the high-society cocktail. Club goers will have their choice of peach, roasted pear, orange-cardamom, chocolate-espresso and a Bordeaux version, inspired by the region of France, and an assortment of others. Additional cocktails on the menu include a Basil Vodka Gimlet, the “Country Club” punch bowl, and a classic Mint Julep. Country Club’s signature bar snacks include scrumptious selections like the Truffled Grilled Cheese, “Pigs in a Blanket” Lollipops, and a dish of Peaches with Prosciutto and Basil. In addition, the club offers 10 gourmet popcorn flavors, including Sweet Georgia Pecan and Chocolate Chunk & Caramel.
