Tatiana Platt, The “Fame Dame” Of NYC
Tatiana Platt’s job, as founder of FameGame.com, consists of paying attention to, and documenting each and every move of the New York social set. However, she realizes realizes that there is more out there than this “page six-highschool-esque” world that we are living in. Hailing from D.C., the “Fame Dame” told the Observer today that, in D.C.:
“Small talk tends to be a little more highbrow, a little more intelligent,” she said of the scene in D.C. “You know, you’re talking about the latest thing that President Bush did or the latest kind of national policy issue.”
Some may see the irony in this, as she is making money off of the lower-brow, page six conversationalists in NYC. However, I don’t see anything wrong with her calling a spade a spade. Yes, New Yorkers can oftentimes be wrapped up in parties, page six and self-promoters. So what if she figured out how to make money off of perpetuating this silly little culture we have been breeding on our island?
The small talk in small towns is, perhaps, more intellectual, but do they throw parties like this every night? I think not. Where else can you find so many individuals who are so wrapped up in themselves than New York City? Tatiana would be out of a job in D.C. Which is why, I’m guessing, Tatiana and Campion still choose to live here over anywhere else.
