Beginners

Beginners
For Oliver (Ewan McGregor), there was nothing harder than finding out that his father (Christopher Plummer) was dying.  Except, of course, finding out that his father was a closeted homosexual.  Based on the true story of writer and director Mike Mills, Beginners is remarkable for its ability to find sorrow, and joy, in the most unlikely circumstances. This groundbreaking film missed the Best Picture mark for leaning too far to the left.  But after all, that's where the heart is.
