Balenciaga Debuts Platform Crocs In Paris

by Stephanie Maida · October 2, 2017

Fashion Month is finally winding down in Paris, but not without one last unexpected trend taking over the runway. Yesterday, designer Demna Gvasalia, known for turning the idea of luxury on its head, sent spring's most surprising shoe down the catwalk, and style stars can't stop talking about it.

    Yes, that's a platform Croc.

Balenciaga, one of the most major names in high-end design, has collaborated with the notoriously anti-fashion statement shoe of tourist dads and Mario Batali. And, dare we say, it's kind of cool.

Though Balenciaga isn't the first label to venture into the ironic shoe game (Christopher Kane made waves in London last year with his own jewel-encrusted versions), Gvasalia is the first to raise the Croc to stunning new heights. And in fashion land, where beauty is pain, maybe it really is high time for comfort to reign.
