Grace Kelly's Granddaughter Rode A Horse Down The Chanel Runway

by Stephanie Maida · January 25, 2022

Bianca Jagger may have debunked the rumor that she did it at Studio 54, but there's no denying that the best way to make a grand entrance is, well, riding in on a horse.

And that's exactly what Monaco's royal Charlotte Casiraghi (a.k.a. Grace Kelly's granddaughter) did on Tuesday at the Chanel haute couture show in Paris. But she didn't just gallop up to the venue before finding her seat, she actually rode the steed down the runway. Who knew IMG Models had a horse division?!

Casiraghi, of course, is an accomplished equestrian (much like many other socialites of her stature) and has actually been one of the brand's ambassadors since 2020.

Trotting around the Grand Palais Éphémère, the 35-year-old royal-turned-model sported a black tweet jacket along with riding helmet and boots to open the spring/summer 2022 show. Among those taking in the surprise from the front row? Anna Wintour, Pharrell, Margot Robbie, and Sofia Coppola, just to name a few.

While Chanel swiftly, and unsurprisingly, faced criticism from animal activists, we imagine horse-lover Casiraghi made sure her co-star got the A-list treatment he deserved.
