Maison Margiela Spring 2016 Couture Was A Surrealist Bowie Tribute

by Stephanie Maida · January 27, 2016

With the notoriously colorful John Galliano at its helm, Maison Margiela presented a stunning couture collection today in Paris, most noticeably accented with influences of the late, great David Bowie. While tributes have popped up on the runways all month, the fashion world continues to mourn an icon, one that Galliano is endlessly quoted on: "What about David Bowie? He's a sexy creature."

From the glam rock mullets to makeup artist Pat McGrath's surrealist beauty appliqu├ęs, many of Margiela's models channeled Ziggy Stardust along the thin white runway. Mixed in with some of the house's signature minimalism, the standout looks were a lovely homage to one fearless fashionisto from another.
