Simon Doonan Gets In Front Of The Mic At The Moth Ball
[All photos by Jimi Celeste for PMc]. Jonathan Ames, Simon Doonan and Garrison Keillor were among the headliners at The Annual Moth Ball Gala last night, held at Capitale NYC.-
The event, which takes place each September to benefit The Moth, included a cocktail party, dinner, dancing, and of course a special edition of The Moth's famed story-telling show. Items being auctioned off included "60 awkward minutes with Mike Birbiglia", a Hunt Slonem painting, a meal with and Tea with Neal Gaiman.
Guests were instructed to wear "Raven black" or "Powder white" to fit in with the "Black And White Ball" theme.
The Moth produces "Stories At The Moth" each month in New York. The concept is simple: An audience, a mic, and a line-up of people who get up and tell a story, usually something that's happened to them. The result is often powerful or hysterical; if you haven't been yet, it's an absolute New York must.
