The Strokes played for screaming fans at MSG, Elvis Costello made a surprise appearance, LCD Soundsystem said their goodbye with a three and a half hour performance, people smacked each other with pillows, arty types enjoy exhibitions, and much more. This weekend was all about getting lost in the moment.

Other Details: Fans went wild at MSG this weekend for the Strokes. The band kicked the evening off with the classic "Is This It," and continued their set with a mix old favorites and tracks from their new album. Ms. Modern Age writes of Julian Casablancas:
"Climbing up on the stage left speakers, and then grabbing onto the side railing, Julian positioned himself in the midst of the raised seated floor section, where upon everyone started grabbing on to him from behind. At one point, Julian jumped down to the floor, and the barricade felt as if it were going to tip over -- terrifying me because that's where the handicapped folks were sitting. Luckily, Julian moved back up and further over into the crowd, bringing the rest of the song to the front section of the room, and a bit to stage right at the end, finally finishing on the stage."
Elvis Costello made a surprise appearance, playing in between opener Devandra Bernhart and the headliners. He then joined the band on stage for "Taken for a Fool." After the performance the band head to the Bowery Hotel where lucky party goers gained admission by showing their ticket stub. [Via]

LCD Soundsystem Final Concert

Other Details: After a week of shows at Terminal 5, James Murphy and company said goodbye to rabid fans at their final show at MSG. The concert lasted a whopping three and a half hours and they were joined on stage by Arcade Fire. James Murphy told the crowd: "This is a very weird experience for us. We hope it will be a very weird experience for everybody." The Guardian's Katie Kitamura said the "atmosphere in the stadium on Saturday night was somewhere between joyous wake and dance party funeral." Rolling Stone has the set list. Other Details: Over 150 cities and 5000 people around the world took part in International Pillow Fight Day this Saturday. New Yorkers hit Union Square for the 6th year in a row to release pent up angst by slamming each other slumber party-style with fluffy, feather-filled weapons. For more details go HERE! Other Details: Carrie Shaltz and Zach Hyman's presented their multi-media gallery show PREYGROUND this weekend at 3rd Ward. Other Details: Salon 94 presented The Happy Ever After this weekend, a two-part solo exhibition of new work by Katy Grannan, andThe Believers, a three channel video installation. Around the corner at Salon 94 Freemans is Boulevard, a new series of color photographs made while Grannan roamed the streets of Los Angeles and San Francisco between 2008 and 2010. [Via]

Other Details: Digital Art was introduced to Schools in Sri Lanka in 2001/2002 through Anushka Wirasinha a distinguished former student of Colombo International School. Animation and Digital Film is now a national event open to all schools throughout the country with selected digital art, animation and digital film exhibits displayed at the National Arts Club before it moves to the United Nations.
