¡Viva La Revolución!, Part II

Viva La Revolucion, Part II!

[Left, Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega, Right, El Padrón Obama]

A few weeks ago we picked up on a revolutionary undercurrent in the Obama camp. Well now it seems to be confirmed. The International Herald Tribune has reported that none other than Nicaraguan Sandinista leader, Daniel Ortega has called Obama’s presidential bid “revolutionary.” Ortega’s Sandinista government was backed by the Soviet Union and struggled against the U.S. backed Contras for power throughout the 80’s. After losing office in 1990, Ortega again regained the head spot last year at the ballot box.

According to Ortega, “…they are laying the foundations for a revolutionary change.” I can only hope that when he says “they,” he is talking about the hipsters that we tried to convince to wear these Obama shirts in the village. (Picture us patting ourselves on the back ;))
