President Obama rolled into town last night for a fundraising dinner at the home of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and his wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman. Anna Wintour played co-host to the evening, which cost $71,500 per couple, or the legal maximum contribution of $35,800 per person, and drew celebrity names.
Obama also held a reception at the Ritz-Carlton, so the dinner on Bank Street wasn't his only fundraiser but it was definitely the most star studded. Tory Burch, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, Jimmy Fallon, Aerin Lauder, Kenneth Cole, and Gayle King turned up. Guests sat around five round tables with ten people per table.
Weinstein reportedly told the President, whom he loaned a rough cut of King's Speech last year, that he'd send him Iron Lady, a film starring Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher.
Crowds gathered to try and catch a glimpse of guests and the man of the hour, but security was high. Just take a look at the President's motorcade leaving the West Village:
