He may go by "The Prince of Wales," but what's his technical surname? It's rarely ever used, and it's definitely not known by most fans or the common public, but William does have a last name. And, click below to find out what it is....
Prince William's official last name is: Mountbatten-Windsor.
That is quite a mouthful. The name comes from the merging of names of the Queen and Prince Phillip in 1960. Her last name was Windsor, and his was Mountbatten.
And, unless The Prince of Wales (Prince William) chooses to alter the present decisions when he becomes king, he will continue to be of the House of Windsor and Kate and his grandchildren will use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor! [Royal.gov.uk]

Last time I checked the Prince of Wales is Prince Charles not his son and 2nd in line to the throne, Prince William.

While you get kudos for getting the official surname correct, I believe you are mistakingly referring to Prince William as "The Prince of Wales" perhaps because he refers to himself as "William Wales". He is NOT, however, the Prince of Wales. That is his father, Prince Charles.

i believe Prince William's title(s) now is Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus . i've heard him referred to as William of wales but never prince of wales as that is Charles title(btw charl is also known as The Duke of Rothesay. Royalty is confusing lol

charles is prince of wales, william is duke of cambridge, considering his father is still alive yes he stays prince, but charles will never be king, therefore when queen elizabeth passes he goes straight to king not to prince. and charles will stay as prince. and Harry refused to ever take the throne. come on people! im not even british and i know this!
