Want Dennis Crowley And Ben Lerer To Mentor You? You're In Luck...

TechStars, a group that provides seed money and support to start-up groups, just announced that they're opening a New York office. They've got a mighty rooster of "advisors" on board, too, so if you've been looking for a way to sidle up to, say, David Karp or Fred Wilson, now is your golden opportunity.-

The goal of the group is to "get your startup funded and off the ground while learning from the best."  It's a three-month program, during which you get to pitch your idea, get up to $18,000 in funding, and get your company on its feet.

The full list of mentors for NYC include:

    Fred Wilson (Union Square Ventures

Dennis Crowley (Looks like they're going to be spending a lot more time together...)

    Phin Barnes (First Round Capital)

    Peter Hershberg

Jennifer Hyman (of Rent The Runway)

    David Karp (Founder, Tumblr)

    Zach Klein (Vimeo)

    Ben Lerer (Thrillist

    Brad Feld (Foundry Group)

    Hilary Mason (bit.ly)

    Naveen Selvadurai (Foursquare)

    Justin Shaffer (Hot Potato)

    Tim Shey (Next New Networks)

    Jon Steinberg (Buzzfeed)

    Rex Sorgatz (Kinda Sorta Media)

    Sam Lessin (Drop.io)

For those that are counting (and I KNOW some of you are counting...), 2 of the 48 are women, but those who are looking to quickly remedy the "lack of women in tech" pandemic need only apply to the program to balance out the ratio!

The application process is simple, and perfectly tailored to the new media crowd (describe your company in 140 characters or less!), with ample space to talk about the founders and their history.

It's actually an exciting, cool program, and we look forward to seeing what kind of companies emerge from the tutelage of these guys.

(Also, are applicants allowed to request specific mentors? Because, uhm, Ben Lerer. All the way. He'd be "the cool" mentor.)
