I can’t get enough of my Waving Election Watches! With the presidential election only three months away, time is of the essence. I was instantly obsessed when my friend, Ariel Moses, introduced them to me earlier this week. I could now support my candidate of choice AND making a fashion statement!
The Waving Watches feature a portrait of your favorite presidential candidate, Barack Obama or John McCain, who actually waves at you with his right-hand. Although I am already set on which candidate is getting my vote in November, I loved both of the “designs.”
One of the watches has Obama with a cheery, welcoming smile and other watch has McCain (or the “wrinkly white hair dude“) with a constipated grin.
I wore both watches to the Pineapple Express Premiere on Tuesday and showed them off proudly (see picture above). I couldn’t stop laughing when I looked at my left wrist and see Obama AND McCain waving and greeting me. Several of my friends asked if they could wear one of the two, but I refused to part with either. Some people thought I was being greedy and others just thought I hadn’t decided yet.
Of course I didn’t need two watches, but that wasn’t the point. It was the minor details that only mattered to me. I learned that the watches inspired discussions about the upcoming election in various ways. For some, they thought I was trying to make a fashion statement by wearing two watches and got a good chuckle
I also liked how both of the watches were displaying the wrong time – the McCain watch is set a few minutes backwards and the Obama watch is set a few minutes forward.
I parted with the McCain watch yesterday when Liam McMullan asked to wear one of them to the Martini & Rossi and Mena Suvari Toast Andy Warhol’s 80th Birthday Anniversary event. When we showed his dad, Patrick McMullan, he wanted one of each as well!
So, where can you find one of these fabulous watches? Electionwatches.com. Go get one or two or more and pass them out to your friends! It’s not only hip - its “keeping democracy ticking.”
If only we all looked so beautiful in those watches!
