It has been a rough year for the Weinstein Company as they near bankruptcy. They recently hired a bankruptcy consultant and are hanging their hopes of financial rescue on the release of the movie Inglorious Basterds later this month. So how bad are things for Harvey? According to a tipster, he is reportedly trying to unload his controlling stake in the jet set social network a small world for somewhere around half of what he paid for it.
Weinstein has been shopping around his stake in a small world. He needs liquidity fast, willing to take a heavy discount (as in 50% or more), the sharks should be circling soon...
Tonight A Private Club will be celebrating the Launch of "American Hotel Stories" by Assouline. We had to remove the location of the event as you must be a member of the site to attend (insert social snobbery scowl here). Following in ASMALLWORLD's footsteps, A Private Club launched itself last year as the younger, New York centric version. Forget tonight's party (which we hope to make it to), let's talk about the merits of the site in general.... More»

ASW's ASMALLMAGAZINE is up and running. And, with their presentation of the top NYC Socials last issue, they had to have a counterpart for our sister city, London. Not an ASW member? No worries, read below from their "Village People: Field Guide to London's Ladies-About-Town":
"Londoners will often describe their city as a collection of villages, each as different from each other as are London’s various social scenes. In Camden, for example, the music scene reigns supreme, whilst a day in Shoreditch is as good as any fashion show. The Hills (Notting and Primrose) are both meccas for yummy mummies, but the former is glossy and groomed, to the latter's artfully dishevelled reformed rocker. Each village has a leader of course – the public persona that typifies the village in style and personality. Here's our guide on matching the face to each place."
Place: Primrose Hill
Neighbours: Sadie Frost, Pearl Lowe, Davinia Taylor, Alice Sykes
Origin: The modeling or music world. This girl's a semi-reformed rocker merging a heady social life with virtuous macrobiotic existence.
Style Stakes: Stylist friends rustle up ingenious vintage finds from 80s YSL to original Biba.
Arm candy: A guy who can wear skinnier jeans than her – some musical prowess also required. Kate's current partner in crime is Jamie Hince of The Kills. More»

ASMALLWORLD has expanded. With a couple new additions to their team, including the always lovely Serena Merriman joining Sabine Heller, they have launched their first edition of "ASMALLMAGAZINE" available online to members only. Last night, the uptown glamour girls and downtown cool kids came together to sip champagne and check out Leviev's new jewelry collection at the Leviev boutique on Madison Avenue. NYC's #1 Bachelorette Jules Kirby and rumored BF Paul Johnson Calderon, Bettina Prentice, event host Annelise Peterson, Ashley Wick, Nina Freudenberger, Guini and Carlos Suarez, actress Maria di Angelis, downtown 'It' girl Antonia Thompson and ASMALLWORLD's Sabine Heller and Serena Merriman, braved the protesters gathered outside to enjoy champagne and warm chocolate shooters while checking out the diamond jewelry collection from the renowned jewelers.

I haven't been on A Small World in a long time, and got the itch to see what my Euro friends were doing this Sunday. This is what came up when I logged on. I took the suggestion to heart and spent the rest of the day drinking bloody mary's with friends before moving on to wine at Kingswood where I sat gazing at Whitney Port and her new boy toy (Note: only 20% of my table knew who Whitney Port was which was refreshing, 90% of them knew about the Spandax Sundays party starting downstairs and around the corner at 11:00, also refreshing).
I will highlight ASW's "New Features" below:

Last night ASMALLWORLD and NET-A-PORTER.COM co-hosted an intimate soiree in the penthouse of 333 West 14th Street, New York, to give special ASW members an opportunity to shop the latest fashions from Fall 2008 and Cruise 2009. Hosts Ferebee Bishop Taube, Coralie Charriol Paul, Jessica Joffe, Vogue's Valerie Boster and ASMALLWORLD's Sabine Heller mingled with guests as they browsed the racks of designer labels, including Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Phillip Lim, Miu Miu, Rik Owens and Christian Louboutin. Guests enjoyed NET-A-PORTER.COM's personal shopping service, an opportunity to try on the wares and receive a 20% discount.
