Halloween 2009: An Official List Of Who’s Going As What!
[C.Park Conservancy's Halloween Ball '07] Halloween is just around the corner. Because this is the one time you are allowed to dress however you’d like without having to explain yourself (unless of course, you’re Munson), you shouldn’t take this holiday lightly. Lady Gaga? Michael Jackson? Sarah Palin? Come on, we need to be a little more original than that don’t we? (Sorry James). To help get you in the mood, I asked my friends to share what they were going to be this year. Their answers, below, starting with the GofG staff, are sure to get you inspired to put your best face forward at your Halloween parties. Look forward to our “Halloween Party Guide” next week. Oh, and I’m planning on going as Pee-Wee Herman (for at least one of my outfits).
Stanley Stuyvesant: Bringing out the usual Devil costume this year. Ruff!
Cameron Winklevoss: I will be dressed up as Stanley Stuyvesant.
James Brooks: bon qui qui
Sarah Mandato: I hate halloween, so I recycle a ballerina costume every year.

Daily Style Phile: Helen Marcovicci, The Stylish Torch Singer At The Algonquin

I spotted this lady( who is perfect for my site) in the lobby of the Historic Algonquin Hotel just hours ago and thought she looked charming in her big red glasses and printed silk scarf. I was there to do a little research for Mimi Weddell’s big hat party and I’m sure Mimi would be a fan of this woman’s style as well. It turns out that her name is Helen Marcovicci, and she was a well known torch singer in the 1940s. I look forward to hearing her music and checking out her new album, though she made sure to let me know that I couldn’t afford her for our party ha!

Marilyn Monroe Look-Alike Exhibits Art In The City
Go HERE for more photos by Ari Cohen
Last night we were lucky to attend the opening reception for Norwegian artist Unni Askeland’s exhibit FRIEZED:BLONDIE IN THE FOREST. The exhibit, held at the Heiberg Cummings Design studio will be up from October 30th-Nov 21. Guests were treated to the amazing vocals of blues singer Terri White, while Unni bounced around the room making sure to talk to each arriving visitor. The artist, described as the “enfant terrible” of the contemporary Norwegian art scene, lived up to her glamorous reputation as she sipped wine in a audacious leopard print dress.

Drunken Olympics
Come to Dempsey’s Pub tonight and do something that you’ve (hopefully) never done before, namely taking an exam while under the influence. Comedian Janet Rosen and songwriter Tony Hightower present their Drunken Smart Ass Olympics, which is comprised of 51 questions on everything from pop culture to astronomy. If they can’t stump you, prizes in the past have included Broadway tickets, dinner for two, and of course, free drinks. Two drink minimum, show up between 7:30 and 9:30, the earlier the better.
