As if Advanced Style couldn't get any cooler, a full length docu-movie of blogger (and former GofG blogger) Ari Seth Cohen's musings of the the more mature fashionistas of NYC is coming out this summer. The film is directed by Lina Plioplyte, where she has sifted through Cohen's beautiful senior picks, and features them in their most outrageous garb and personalities, including style queen Iris Apfel. After spending way too much time looking at famous people with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle noses drawn on their faces, I check in on the Republican debate, Sam Sifton's farewell to food and the status of the missing exotic animals on the loose in Ohio. It was my favorite party of Fashion Week 2011 and everyone was getting in on the fun (you can spot me totally getting into blogger mode as my subject was totally getting into her fashion pose mood, above). Ari Seth Cohen's (a former GofG'er!) party for Advanced Style, his site documenting the sartorial splendors of fashion subjects in their last stages of life, has taken off. And, last night was no indication he or it have any plans for slowing down. He brought in the young style rookie, Tavi Gevinson, to help him host a "cross-generational fashion week celebration of style, wisdom, classic elegance and flamboyance at the Ace Hotel." Advanced Styles' Ari Cohen spotted one of our favorite hat designers, Rod Keenan outside of the New Museum on Bowery this weekend and managed to snap a photo of him and his fashionable guest. Rod has been designing men's hats for the refined consumer since 1992. His creations are sold around the world.

In honor of the big Hat Party that we are hosting for Mimi Weddell, along with Ari Cohen and Abigail Lorick tomorrow at the Algonquin Hotel, Advanced Style is hosting a Hat Photo contest. The lucky winner will receive an invitation to the event tomorrow. Stay tuned for more details and check out the contest results today.
