Daily Style Phile: Amanda Beard Tests NYC Fashion Week Waters

Amanda Beard

Amanda Beard broke on to the Worldwide scene at the age of 14.  After winning 3 Medals in the ‘96 Atlantic Games, she mixed it up with Jay Leno and was featured on the Oxygen Network. She is now considered a superstar in the world of swimming and beyond.  She is one of the most sought after models in the Olympics, and was the most downloaded female athlete on the internet for 3 months straight in 2004, surpassing Anna Kournakova.  Askmen.com named her Female Model of the Year.  She was even the Sports Illustrated cover girl in ‘06 and Playboy Cover girl last summer. There’s no denying that Amanda looks great in a bikini.

However, lately, the swimmer has been making her rounds among the NYC fashion set, spotted at several of the fashion week events.  And this fish out of water has proven that she can master clothes on dry land.

Michael Phelps At China Doll Nightclub In Beijing

Michael Phelps

After his amazing performance at the Olympics, Michael Phelps is doing, well, what anyone in his place would be doing, he’s living it up! Last night he went to China Doll, a new spot in Beijing, where he was being fawned over by a bevy of broads and admiring fans. And his rumored possible romances, U.S. swimmer Amanda Beard or British fashion model Lily Donalson were nowhere in sight…

Expect more info from this club, the current “hot spot” of Beijing later today.

Olympians Will Be Allowed To Blog

Beijing Olympics 2008According to the IOC (International Olympic Committee) and USOC (United States Olympic Comitte) guidelines, Olympic athletes will be permitted to blog! IOC by-laws have traditionally only allowed people accredited as media to act as journalists or reporters, however, the amended guidelines read,

“The IOC considers blogging, in accordance with these Guidelines, as a legitimate form of personal expression and not as a form of journalism.”

Not a form of journalism!?! What has this world come to? We’ll show them…huff and puff. Now we’ll get to hear everything from the horses’ mouth. We can see what Michael Phelps has to say, or better yet Amanda Beard or Jenny Finch, without having it sugar-coated and varnished by NBC’s Bob Costas. Journalism shmournalism, I’m liking the sound of this.
