Art Basel is turning to be a little bit of New York City gone to the beach, as Manhattan's art scene and scene-scene heavyweights are playing hard at party hopping in Miami. Last night's socializing highlights are almost too many to count, so we'll give you just a taste. You might want to take a second to prepare. More»

Art Basel actually kicks off today, but the plethora of parties and previews the past couple of days paint a different picture. Pun intended.

Much like weddings or New Year's Eve, Art Basel, the annual Miami art show, is an expensive, cleverly worded euphemism for "party". Last year may have seen a temporary dampening of spirits and closing of wallets but the recession is technically over and hotel rooms are pretty cheap in a city with an unemployment rate that hovers above 11%. From the kickoff party to the first few events, this year promises a pick up following recession apprehension. From bidding to browsing, the host city provides a picturesque setting, giving up snaps beautiful enough to rival the art. More»
