Yesterday, Fader Fort sponsored by Converse kicked off their SXSW schedule with live performances by Troy Noka, White Arrows, Django Django, Young L, Friends, Oberhofer, Santigold, Danny Brown, and with DJ sets Jazz One, Nick Catchdubs, and Nguzunguzu. 2 Chainz was supposed to play, but was found shopping for Converse in the VIP section, and apparently didn't know he was supposed to play a set. Unless you know a guy who knows a guy who knows about illegal underground poker rings, it's not exactly an easy feat to see Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Kevin Connolly and Lukas Haas in the same room anymore. But don't worry, the "Pussy Posse" (I swear to God, they really used to call themselves that) is far past the days of big mistakes like drunken late-night stripper-fests, bar fights, and hanging out with David Blaine. Now, they like to support tech start-ups, which is what brought them to the Mobli launch party at South By Southwest. MORE>>
There was a time where Leonardo Dicaprio, Lukas Haas, Kevin Connolly and Tobey Maguire getting together meant trouble. After all, these four have been running together since they were mid-90's teen heartthrobs, which means they have about 20 years of skirt-chasing, illegal-poker-ringing, and sneaking-Kevin-Connolly-onto-full-sized-roller-coasters under their belt. But they're a lot older and a bit wiser now, and while they'd never stop hanging out, their pursuits now involve things like investing in tech start-ups like smartphone social media app Mobli 2.0, which held its launch party on Saturday at South By Southwest. Crowds of people flooding Austin for SXSW means one thing for festival-goers: weak cellphone and WiFi signals. Though the lack of connectivity has been a problem at SXSW in the past, one NY-based marketing firm, BBH, is hoping to change that this year. The firm's initiative, called Homeless Hotspots, has equipped 13 homeless men with portable wireless routers. More»
An Austin icon passed away today, the day before SXSW is set to begin. 60-year-old Leslie (he went by just one name) was a fixture in downtown Austin for more than two decades, and he was often called the embodiment of Austin's "keep Austin weird" slogan. Leslie was known around Austin for his wild style, often sporting feather boas, cheerleading uniforms, lacy bras, and thongs, and for his handmade signs, which advocated for the city's homeless. We know it's only the beginning, but eventually you will need a time out from SXSW. So when you can't take one more SXSW show or after-party (or maybe you just want to experience how weird Austin really is), Austin won't disappoint you. There's an endless amount of things to see, do, eat, and of course, drink, and we're here to help you navigate your way through. If you can pull yourself away from the festivities of SXSW, here's what you need to know to really enjoy this cool city. More»
The streets of Austin are quiet this morning. SXSW wrapped up this weekend sending home the 2,400 official performers and the 36,000 revelers who came to listen, drink, wait in super long lines, crowd surf, and play. More»

While relaxing on the secluded property of the Hotel Saint Cecilia, located in Austin’s South Congress District, some lucky folks enjoyed a peaceful day of drinks and music. Yesterday’s bright and cheery entertainment was provided by a private performance from The Idealists. Looks like they had a blast! More»
