As New York barrels headlong into dark, cold winter, we can be forgiven for using our imaginations to whisk us away to yacht-clogged and sun-soaked St. Tropez. And the man who can bring us there sonically is DJ Jack-E. More»

The Sunflower Children held its third annual poker, fashion and sports gala at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday. Daniel and Derek Koch, the brothers behind some of New York’s most popular boozy brunches, didn’t actually try and kill each other, but they did take to the ring for a charity boxing match.

The brunches at Bagatelle have been known to get a little crazy. And, Halloween weekend was no exception. The staff decided to take Oct. 31st as an opportunity to dress like characters out of Michael Jackson’s Thriller video. Emmanuel Cayere led the pack, dressing as MJ and emerging out of a coffin, sparklers in tow. Check out the rest of the photos from this crazy adventure below… More»

BREAKING: Day & Night In The Garden At Revel! The Koch Brothers New Brunch Spot Is Revealed!
After we broke the news that Team Bagatelle was taking over the Merkato 55 space this fall, everyone began to wonder where the Koch brothers (who ran the brunch there last season) were heading with their gang of loyal followers this month. Today, we receive word that Derek and Daniel will be taking over The Garden at Revel (10 little west 12th street) in Meatpacking. Looks like it will be a new season of the Battle of the Brunches. We can’t wait. Let the games begin! The first brunch under the twins’ Dual Groupe will take place tomorrow!
[Champagne Superman at Bagatelle] With fall just around the corner, it’s time to start looking at where your options are to get your Booze Brunch in order. Last season, we covered the “Battle of the Brunches,” a fight to the end between Team Bagatelle (run by Remi Laba and Aymeric Clemente) and Team Merkato 55 (Run by twins Derek and Daniel Koch). This season, in what appears to be an ironic twist in the history of the beleaguered Merkato 55 space, the duo from Team Bagatelle have signed on to take over the Merkato 55 space, neutralizing any competition in wild Saturday brunching, at least in the Meatpacking district. Apparently Remi and Aymeric are planning to turn the Merkato 55 space into an Italian Brasserie and are teaming up with a certain St. Bart’s restaurateur that goes by “Pascal” (story developing)…. Tequila enthusiasts and socialites alike found themselves in The Meatpacking District on Tuesday for cocktails sponsored by “Tres Generaciones” at RDV. After sampling the house Tequila, guests feasted on dishes by Bagatelle before letting loose on the dance floor to beats by some of New York’s most influential electronic artists, including DJ’s Jus-Ske, Sinatra and Sal Morale. Speaking of brunches, there have been several rooftops and restaurants that have followed in Merkato 55′s and Bagatelle’s footsteps and taken to the long, drawn out party-brunch with repeated success. Boozing at 2pm on a Saturday or Sunday? Why not? But you know what would be even better? Boozing at 2pm in…Turks & Caicos. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to pick up and head to this destination hot-spot for the weekend, but at least I know that Bagatelle will be there should I venture there… More»
The last couple of months would suggest that if you could pick one industry not to be in, it would be real-estate. And yet, there are always those few that seem to defy the odds (or so it seems). Enter Michael Shvo and Matt Moinian. Shvo, described by NY Mag as “the most loathed broker in New York” (due in part to his success and youth) teamed up with real-estate heir Moinian in 2008 on the downtown W Hotel. This Saturday, the two teamed up at Bagatelle’s Saturday brunch. No word on the financial health of the W Hotel operation, but a tipster notes (with questionable grammar) that their personal conspicuous consumption sure hasn’t declined: More»
