Saturday night, our nation’s capital became a mini version of L.A. with a sprinkle of NYC, and all of the popular people showed.  The White House Correspondents Dinner brought together some of the most important public figures in our country (including the Obamas), and the people that cover them.  Many are dubbing this meet-up as “Nerd Prom 2009″ (see THIS, THIS and THIS).  Well, I hate to be the one to break it to you guys, but this is hardly a meet-up of nerds.  More story and photos below… More»

Now I could go to Change.gov to get Obama’s speech and write a letter to the Republican National Committee to get a transcript of Jindal’s speech. That would be what a responsible citizen would do. But thanks to you, Tumblrs, I dont need to be a responsible citizen! You’ve already blogged about the speech and told me exactly how I should feel about it:

1. The Speech made America love Barack Obama even more than they already did. And I LOVED IT.
2. Joe Biden was in Dick Cheney’s former chair. Related: “Nobody messes with Joe.” And I started to get the feeling that my friends and I were playing dress up and this was all a miraculous dream.
3. Michelle Obama hugged a girl from South Carolina. And I got really excited for Meredith. And for freedom. Obvs.

Is there an event or party that these New Yorkers can’t get into? Apparently not, since while we were watching Tuesday’s festivities on our television they ditched NYC’s Inaugural soirees to hang out with the country’s favorite V.I.P.  Julia Allison kicked it with Malia and Sasha, Kristian Laliberte and Devorah Rose had front row seats for the big speech, while Emily Brill and our best friend DBTH left Park City in time to join the millions in D.C. Even our very own Stanley Stuyvesant wagged his tail all the way to Washington to give a big woof to our new Pres.

The Latin social scene came alive Tuesday night in Obama’s honor at the Obama Te Ama Inauguration Party at Manana Restaurant in New York City, hosted by Inocente Tequila. Guests including Michel Heredia, Richard Turley, Liliana Dominguez, Brian Reyes, Yaz Hernandez, Andrew Bolton, and Gabriel Rivera-Barraza sipped mucho cocktails at this Inaugural fiesta on the Upper East Side.
