Southside To Celebrate 1st Birthday Of Meaningless Name Change

[Bella's (R), Southside (L)] Anthony and Tom Martignetti will toast the 1st birthday of their Soho club, Southside, on November 5th (invite below). But what are they really celebrating? Besides its name, little about the venue has changed since the brothers brought a loyal preppy crowd to 1 Cleveland Place in 2006 with Bar Martignetti and its downstairs bar, Bella’sMore »

Bar Martignetti Closes Its Doors, Can A Place Reinvent Itself More Times Than Madonna?

[Windows papered at BarMart]

A tipster sent in word today that our neighborhood joint, Bar Martignettis, the place which started Bellas then Southside has CLOSED!  Didn’t notice?  Probably not since the restaurant has been virtually empty the past couple of months.  But don’t worry, it’s only for a couple of weeks for “renovations” (apparently the place is going to have a much more “pub-like” feel with a new bar in the back of the restaurant), but we are wondering if anyone will care?

Southside Goes Back To Being Bellas

Dabney Mercer, Sebastian Bland

Go HERE for more photos by JT WHITE and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS!

Spotted: Dabney Mercer (Tinsley Mortimer’s little sister) twirling around the dance floor at Southside with none other than Sebastian Bland (Kashmir Snowdon-Jones’ beau).  Don’t worry, these two are just close friends.  Kashmir was there too, and they all boogied the night away this Thursday there. JT followed the group, after the fashion for food event and gives us a look at what Southside looks like on a Thursday night.  And, from his photos of patrons rolling on the floor, it doesn’t seem like much has changed at all from our lovable Bellas.

Dorrian’s Tuesday Night Karoke, Still On!

Thankfully, despite rumors going around, we find out today that Dorrian’s uptown, that place for preppsters, is not going to end it’s Tuesday night Karoke parties.…yet.  Thank god for that, with the close of Bella’s, where would they all go out? One of these nights I promise I’m going to venture uptown to belt out show tunes with the likes of Topper Mortimer, E.B. Sollis, Lizzy Fraser, Cabell Brown, Ivanka Trump, Winston Lapham, Serena Tufo, Julia Hoyt, Hunter Ryan, and Peter Smith. Until then, these photos will have to suffice…

RIP Bella’s 2006-2008

[Halloween at Bella's, That's me as Kenny Kenny]

The morning after…

Has it hit you yet that Bella’s is over?  Me neither….although, talking to friends about its finale, we all agree it makes sense.  Quit while you are ahead.  And ahead she was.  Bella’s, that little hot spot underneath the Martignetti boy’s restaurant, was a favorite of socialites, hipsters, bankers, and LOLA’ers alike. We could always rely on Bella’s for consistent fun.  Bella’s never let us down as our go-to backup plan, and, time and time again, she was our only one.   Besides having some of the best music around, whenever I walked into Bella’s I ran into someone that I knew….Where else could we feel safe venturing into in outlandish kenny kenny costumes, or, better yet, sans pants in our best Flash Dance reenactments? Sure some nights held more debauchery than even we could handle, herds of prepsters that, no doubt, turned Broome Street for a 180, and was responsible for more items lost to the party gods than I care to think about; but despite all of this, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m going to miss this place.  I will miss…
