It had been nine long days since the Thrillist Mystery Jet landed back at JFK after a memorable trip to Jamaica, and all the new media attendees were dispersed throughout New York. Obviously, a reunion on a yacht was in order.

[All pictures by Nick McGlynn from Thrillist] We sent GofG Correspondent Carson Griffith on the Thrillist Mystery Jet, armed only with her passport and a sense of adventure. She had no idea where she was going, or who with. This is her story….
“Let’s get weird!” Ben Lerer yelled over the micro-phone for his first speech to us. The CEO of the company that now employees over forty people looked like he was determined for all of us to have a good weekend from the moment we got there (game face, anyone?), as did his employees. What can be said? More»
Nothing says bar mitzvah birthday quite like a little Village People, so it’s easy to see why the group championing a recent marathon birthday run at Citrine got their YMCA on to celebrate another year of (Thrillist founder) Ben Lerer. The band’s Randy Jones (aka the “cowboy”) graced the guests with his presence for a spirited rendition of the 70’s hit. Ben did his best to multitask both the arm movements and singing, which proved slightly challenging after many rounds of drinks. The singer and gay icon’s (Randy, not Ben) appearance follows a hysterical cameo on “Flight of the Conchords” earlier this year, where he participated in the duo’s music video for “Too Many D-cks.” The birthday was thus an obvious follow up. The party doubled as a sort of last hurrah for the birthday boy, who ties the knot, this weekend. GofG wishes him all the best in this exciting life step. Is Ben all grows up? More»

However, there wasn’t a timid techie in sight at his 4th of July BBQ bash this past Saturday, and these photos speak for themselves, do they not? Maybe Lerer isn’t the dorkster we all thought he was? Or maybe his friends, including DJ Tanner, Ryan Harwood, Emily Rotter, Perry Rahbar, David Rodolitz, Ryan Alovis, Eric Sobotka, Mike Hamilton, and Mike Hesekiel, who all helped host the affair, keep Ben up to speed? The party, at their house in Watermill, is a convenient 2 min cab ride from Pink Elephant nightclub…

Last night, one of our favorite tech-nerd-CEOs, Ben Lerer, helped his company welcome friends to experience a “Rioja Midnight Tasting” at Yerba Buena on Avenue A. The event, which was a collaboration of Epicurious, Spain Wine Collection, Tempranillo, and Thrillist, seemed to be one of the website’s parties NOT to miss. More photos below… More»
